Seriously, if I get another request for selective coloring then I’ll surely cry. Selective coloring was used for these two images because I thought it was a good idea at the time (when I first launched my business last year, March 2007). It’s still kind of cute now … maybe. But, if you’re a future bride, please do not ask me to do this with your portraits, making the photo B&W and leave your bouquet in color. Aahhh!!!
It’s a style that is so out of style now. The last thing you’d want is your wedding photographs outdated before your one-year wedding anniversary. Trust me, it’s not a good idea at all. Again, if you ask me to do this then I will cry.

My previous post mentions about head-on shots; DO NOT tilt your head back because all it’s doing is creating an unflattering angle for yourself. It gives you a double-chin even if you don’t already have one, a thicker neck, and all we get is nostril. Eww. Make that double eww, one for each nostril that I see! So, here’s my ultimate tip: lean towards the camera and keep your chin down. This especially goes for the guys since that’s what y’all tend to do.
Sure, it’s about the images; but, here’s a hint: It’s not always about the images. You work with certain people because you know they can produce the type of quality that you see in their portfolio/website, but also remember that it’s about how you feel in the end. This goes back to Maya Angelou’s saying, “People will forget what you said … People will forget what you did … But, people will never forget how you made them feel.”
And, my #1 goal is to make you feel comfortable on your session with me. I like to goof off and have fun so that’s what you can expect from me and my second photographer, Derrick Bautista. He’s like the brother I never had, but just like blood siblings I can’t seem to get rid of him either. haha! Yeah, we’re both definitely weirdoes!

Dude, if I can sing I’d totally do this song by Whitney Houston (pre-crack) to audition for “American Idol.” No lie!!! But, it’s a good thing that I’m too old for that show, spare them the pain. haha! But, I really did want to incorporate a performance into my June 2002 wedding; I wanted to get all six of my bridesmaids and frontman this song. Again, I cannot sing to save my life and my bridesmaids were the shy type. Man, if I can just do it all over again … Yeah, I’d liquor them all up right before we go on stage! hehe!
But, at least I can live vicariously through the B&Gs that I’m commissioned to photograph this year. Yay!!!

So, I highly recommend future B&Gs to jump on the bandwagon and mix up your first dance a bit. Sure, the traditional first dance with the slow ballad is sweet and all but, honestly, no one really pays attention throughout the song. Last weekend, I attended a wedding and there was a fun first dance to Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.” Seriously! Near the end, the groom dropped his pants to reveal his red thong with H-E-L-P written on his “cheeks.” OMG, is he wearing a thong — a red one?! (Yeah, only you, Chad! ahaha!!!)
Oh, I found the video they emulated for their first dance, see Video #2. BTW, I don’t know the couple in Video #1. Yes, I am Asian like them but, contrary to popular beliefs, I’m not related to every Asian person, ya know. haha!
