Wed: Liza & Lou

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

My first 15-hour wedding to date…

…and probably my last! haha! It’s not easy lugging around a 20-pound camera bag for hours and hours. My eyes start to cross and that’s not good considering it’s my job to stay “focused.” I know, I know … bad joke. Bleh! Anyway, the day started at 8:00 AM sharp — err, we all started at 8:00 while Liza strolled in around 9:00-ish! haha! It was a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at the bride’s parents’ home. Then it was off to a fun parade at the groom’s brother’s home for a traditional Laotian ceremony. (There was a ton of drinking at both ceremonies! Wee!!!)

Finally, the American ceremony was held at the Marriott-Portland Downtown followed by a 10-course dinner reception for over 550 guests. Yeah, that’s right, five hundred and fifty guests!!! To see more vendor details et al, visit their wedding planner’s site: www.jenuinecreations.info.

P.S.
Who invited Hennessy and his entire gang???

{Okay, I have to end it here. Why? Because I got to go finish editing the rest of their 300 images. Eeks!!!}

Wed: Phet & Suk (Tacoma, Wash.)

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

Oh, it’ll just be a few of us, that’s all.

Tacoma, Wash. — What originally was supposed to be an engagement session turned in to a “small” wedding of 100 or so guests! The crazy thing is that 99% of it was just family. Wowzer! So, as you can imagine, I barely got any alone time with the couple (to do some individual shots) because it was a full house with folks that were just so happy to be witnessing the marriage of their loved ones. Everyone wanted their pictures with the bride and groom — everyone. This was a traditional Lao wedding ceremony with a “few” guests.

The first thing that happened this morning (10:00 AM) was a crowd of people, led by the groom, gathered down the street from the bride’s parents’ home to start a parade of cheers, shots all around, and an upbeat melody of authentic Lao instruments. Did I mention shots?! Well, it was raining that morning so who needed water? haha! When the groom and his entourage finally reached the doorstep he had to practically force his way through the threshold into the bride’s home to proceed with the ceremony. It was funny since all I saw was shots being passed around. hehe!

Wed: Rasha & Keith

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Portland, Ore. — Rasha and Keith agreed to do a quick and very private sneak peek of each other before the ceremony started. However, it wasn’t that private … passers-by on the Waterfront all stopped to stare at them. Well, how could they not? Rasha is one GORGEOUS bride!!! I know, because, I was snapping pictures of her all day! And, the way Keith looked at her all night there was no denying that he was so proud to be her husband.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes tidbit that not everyone is so lucky enough to experience. The brother-of-the-bride, pictured below with his son, Jaden, started to get really nervous about doing his speech. He wrote and rewrote his speech before and after dinner … He even negotiated with the wedding planner, JENuine Creations!, for more time. haha! But, in the end, he had us all laughing with tears of joy as he talked about being the protective brother to his little sister for so many years, and now having to place her hands in someone else’s care. (Kudos, Mohsen!!!)

Wed: Sarah & Eric (Vernonia, Ore.)

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

Don’t you do it … Don’t you dare cry. Don’t you — D’oh! *sobs*

Vernonia, Ore. — I got to second-shoot at Sarah and Eric’s wedding today. Yay!!! They didn’t have many details to shoot, but they had plenty of hugs and kisses to give. Everywhere I looked they were a-huggin’ and a-kissin’. Oh, they had tons of beer, too! Wahoo! (But, I don’t drink beer?) *sigh*

After the ceremony, they snuck up to the top of the hill; I’m sure they wanted privacy, but it’s my job to be a snoop. (Hey, I do it very well!) So, because of such talent I was able to capture some very tender moments between the new husband and his wife. It was the absolute sweetest thing!!! *patting myself on the back*

{These two newlyweds will be joining the Peace Corps in 2009, stationed in Africa!!!}
